ACLCO Staff Changes – Policy Counsel
As previously announced, the ACLCO’s Policy Counsel, Shannon Down, is retiring in a few weeks. We thank Shannon for her contributions to the clinic system at the ACLCO, and for her many years of service as the Executive Director at Waterloo Region Community Legal Services prior to that.
And, as we wish Shannon well with her retirement, we are thrilled to announce that the ACLCO’s new Policy Counsel will be Yodit Edemariam. Yodit has been the Director of Legal Services at the Rexdale Community Legal Clinic since 2019, and was one of its staff lawyers prior to that. Yodit is a passionate believer in our community clinic system and has played a leadership role in many systemic initiatives over the years. We are excited to have Yodit join our ACLCO team and look forward to her playing a key role in supporting all member clinics in her new role.
Yodit will begin as the ACLCO’s Policy Counsel on November 2nd. From November until the end of January, 2027, she will work part-time with the ACLCO and remain part-time at Rexdale. As of February 1st, Yodit will be the ACLCO’s full-time Policy Counsel. Welcome aboard Yodit.
